Thunderbird
Thunderbird is a Mozilla's free email application that's easy to set up and customize - and it's loaded with great features

Canary Mail and Thunderbird, as email clients, are rather like two distant cousins who can barely remember why they ever belonged to the same family. Canary, polished and sleek, lounges comfortably in the Apple ecosystem, the kind of software that turns heads at tech parties by casually dropping phrases like "seamless experience" and "feature-rich interface." It’s only available on macOS and iOS, because, quite frankly, why would it bother with anything else? Meanwhile, Thunderbird, the open-source oddball, is everywhere—Windows, macOS, Linux—you name it. Thunderbird has the kind of availability that suggests it might just show up at your house one day, uninvited, asking to crash on your couch.

The real divergence, however, is in their design philosophies, which could be likened to the difference between a meticulously crafted modern art exhibit and a comfortable, slightly worn-in armchair. Canary Mail, of course, insists on being the former. It prides itself on offering smart notifications, read receipts and snooze options, all wrapped up in an interface so stylish, one suspects it spent a little too much time browsing minimalist interior design blogs. Thunderbird, though, is more the armchair—reliable, sturdy, with just enough customization to let you change the cushion covers without fearing for the structural integrity of the entire thing. Its design may be traditional, but it’s user-friendly, flexible and ready to handle whatever collection of extensions and add-ons you’re willing to throw at it.

In short, Canary is the email client that wants to redefine your life, one stylish swipe at a time. Thunderbird, by contrast, is the dependable companion who simply wants you to get your emails done without fuss—offering no judgment, just more settings than you’ll ever need. Both cousins, different planets.
