Google Chat
Google Chat is a communication service developed for teams and business environments, but also available for general consumers as chat in GMail and mobile app.

Facebook Messenger and Google Chat are, in many ways, like two entirely different species of digital communication—both evolved to fulfill a need, yet remarkably distinct in their natural habitats. Facebook Messenger, the flashy social butterfly, flits effortlessly through the digital landscape, offering its users the irresistible lure of stickers, games and video calls, all wrapped up in the cozy familiarity of the Facebook ecosystem. If it could, it would probably send you a notification every time you even thought about someone, just to make sure you never forget the immense importance of staying connected at all times.

Google Chat, by contrast, is more like the quiet, bespectacled librarian who appears to subsist entirely on spreadsheets and neatly organized email threads. It resides within the hallowed halls of Google Workspace, a land where everything is color-coded, synchronized and, ideally, productivity-enhancing. This platform doesn’t want to help you chat; it wants to help you collaborate, cooperate and—if it must—videoconference, all while ensuring that every file, calendar event and memo you’ve ever needed is at your fingertips, ready to be cross-referenced at a moment’s notice.

In short, while Messenger wants you to have fun and never leave the Facebook hive, Google Chat is there to help you work, organize and perhaps—if you’re lucky—finish your quarterly reports with a minimum of fuss. It’s as if Messenger is saying, “Let’s play!” while Google Chat, clipboard in hand, quietly whispers, “Let’s get this done.”
