Microsoft Access and QuickBooks are both solutions that allow to manage business operations via database-driven application. They allow to create database tables, forms and custom reports based on stored information, offer multi-user access and can be integrated with other software for additional functionality.

But Microsoft Access - is a universal tool for building and managing custom (simple) databases, designed for small business and professionals. It's a part of the Microsoft Office suite (Microsoft 365) so if you have the Office - you have the Access for free. It's a very flexible tool that you can use to create any data structure.

QuickBooks is an (out-of-box) accounting and financial management program for small businesses. So you can only customize some fields and forms. It's specifically designed for bookkeeping, invoicing and payroll management. It offers specialized features like tax calculation and expense management.
