The Riverbed Network and Application Performance Platform enables organizations to visualize, optimize, accelerate and remediate the performance of any network for any application.

Netscout and Riverbed are both IT security software for network performance management and monitoring. They enable deep packet inspection for traffic analysis, provide network diagnostics and troubleshooting tools. Both support cloud-based and hybrid infrastructure environments.

But Netscout (available since 1984) is Intrusion Detection System that specializes more in cybersecurity, DDoS protection and threat analysis for complex networks like carrier-grade infrastructures. Its common users include telecom and large-scale service providers.

Riverbed (2002) is IT Monitoring software, specialized in WAN optimization before expanding to broader network performance. It offers strong integration with SD-WAN solutions and target use cases include branch office acceleration and cloud-ready networks.
